► fourteenth sketch [Video]

[It's been a while since Namine has drawn on the network. And her pokemon feels the need to correct this. So the gear perches itself mysteriously held by one of her pokemon as she sketches out something from something she's been recently told.]

... the tale of Snow White. I wonder if there are any other... tales out there like this.

I think Minnie knows a lot of them. I know she told me one about Pinocchio.

Uu-! Of course there's a lot of stories like that! [ the little kid giggles happily. ]

There's lots of fairytales like Snow White, Maria likes all of them a who-le lot!

Anytime you want to hear one, all you have to do is call me up. I know plenty of stories. Hidden princesses, magic quests, true love, and all of them with happy endings.

[She giggles at that, and moves to sit down.]

Of course! Hmmm, which one... how about the tale of the wooden puppet boy, Pinocchio?

[~*~symbolism~*~]

Once upon a time, there was a toymaker named Geppetto. He made all kinds of beautiful toys for children to play with. However, he was very sad, because he wanted a child of his own. He even carved a wooden puppet and named it Pinocchio, pretending it was his son. One night, he saw a wishing star in the sky, and wished for a real child to take care of and love. When he went to bed, the wishing star came into his toy shop... for his wish had reached the Blue Fairy, and she decided to grant him that wish!

Huh. That kind of looks like the stained glass windows in the palace back home. You're very skilled.

... As for stories, I know a few. I'm not all that good a storyteller, but if you want to hear one, I could try a hoof at it.

She was a magical fairy that listened carefully to all those who wish deeply and honestly.

The Blue Fairy gave Pinocchio life, but he was still a wooden puppet. He asked if he could ever be a real boy, and the Fairy told him that someday, if he was good and let his conscious be his guide, that this wish would come true too. She then granted a small cricket the job of being his conscious... Jiminy Cricket. When Geppetto woke up, he was surprised and overjoyed to see that Pinocchio was alive! They played all through the night, and Geppetto vowed to be a good father to his new son. So he decided to let Pinocchio go to school!

The very same. He was more than happy to give us his story personally when he started living with us.

But, when Pinocchio and Jiminy were on their way to school, a devious fox named Foulfellow and a silly cat named Gideon saw him, and they were very surprised to see a living wooden boy. They decided to trick Pinocchio in order to get some money. They told Pinocchio to not go to school, and instead join them to be an actor. Jiminy told Pinocchio not to do it, but he wouldn't listen, and followed the fox and the cat. Foulfellow and Gideon sold Pinocchio to a puppeteer named Stromboli, and Pinocchio's singing and dancing earned a lot of money. But when Pinocchio asked to go home to see his father... Stromboli locked him up in a cage!

[she promised happy endings though D:]

Stromboli said he'd never let the boy go because of all the money he could make, and left to plan the next show. Pinocchio cried and cried for his father, and then the Blue Fairy suddenly arrived! She asked him why he didn't go to school, and he lied, saying giants kidnapped him. But when he lied, his nose grew! The more lies he said, the bigger his nose grew, and only by telling the truth would it shrink. The Blue Fairy helped him out of the cage, but said it would be the last time she would help. Pinocchio promised to listen to Jiminy, and to go school the very next day.

Hmmm... Well, there's the story of Nightmare Moon. That's probably the one I could do the best at.

[Yes, because you were there for about the last half of the story, Twi.]

It started a long, long time ago, over a thousand years in fact. In the land of Equestria where I come from. Equestria was ruled by two princesses, the elder one who governed the sun and gave the ponies who lived with her daytime, and the younger one who controlled the moon and gave them night. The two sisters ruled in harmony for many years.

[but it'll change, surely there's no donkeys in your life-]

However, when the next day came, Foulfellow and Gideon found him again! And they tricked him again! And again, he didn't listen to Jiminy! This time the fox and the cat sold him to a peddler who was collecting naughty young boys. The peddler took them to a special place called Pleasure Island. There, boys could be naughty all they wanted - smoking cigars, breaking furniture, causing fights, and Pinocchio did it all. When Pinocchio began missing his father again, he looked around the island for a way out... but instead, he found that all of the boys... were turning into donkeys!
