Hopefully I'll be able to catch up with you then.

[Roxas nods]

Yeah, he's my pikachu. He was my first pokemon, except he was a pichu then.

[Sparky has sort of taken up the entire screen and is waving enthusiastically.]

He's cute! If he already evolved, that means you must have been here a long time now.

[Aw, and she waves a little back at Sparky, Salty mirroring her trainer's actions herself.]

I've been here for about five months, I think.

What's a "badge"?

[quick pause as Roxas rummages through his bag to pull out the box where he's keeping his badges, at least until he finds a better place to put them. He takes out his Zephyr badge, and shoves Sparky out the of the way so he can have the screen]

This is a badge. A lot of the towns and cities have pokemon gyms. You challenge the gym leader to a battle, and if you beat him, you get a gym badge. I think once you have eight, you can challenge the champion!

And you already have one? That's amazing!

It took some time to get. I'm hoping to have another one soon since there's a gym here.

Was the battle hard?

Yeah. Falkner, the gym leader, was a pretty tough trainer.

But Sparky must be tougher, since you won.

Only if you decide that's how it's going to be.

I guess so. He also had a type advantage, since electric beats flying types. I had help from my other pokemon to.

... there are different types?

Yeah. Sparky's an electric type but there's also water types and fire types and a lot of others. And they all have strengths and weaknesses.

... it's almost like fighting with magic.

Kind of, yeah. Except there's a lot more types.

[Yao sees the face of a young girl appear on his screen. However, his attention quickly moves over to the pokemon she has with her.]

Ah! What a cute pokemon you have there, aru~!

[Out of curiosity, Yao's Seel moves its head closer to the screen. The pokemon tilts its head to the side.]

... it seems like everyone's having fun making their pokémon fight. I can't do it though.

O-oh, thank you...

... have you met someone named Kairi before?

[He thinks that he might have scared the poor girl.]

Oh, I'm sorry for that outburst, aru. [He smiles sheepishly.] It's just that I really like cute things and when I saw your pokemon I just couldn't help myself, aru. Please accept my sincerest apologies, aru. [He bows.]

The pokemon seem to like it, battling that is. But there's other things you can do.

You mean breeding? I found a guide to it in my bag, along with a notebook and an apron.

[She's using the notebook as a sketchbook though. Surprise!]

[Just outright blows a raspberry at Isa, almost being huffy before leaning on Tatl a little more, still making half a face.] Best friends are supposed to make excuses for you, don't you think so? Maybe something more like 'oh, well I guess my foot got kind of stuck and I dropped the ball when you stumbled your way down', right?
